She is Director of Games Research & Development at the Institute for the Future. Her books include Reality is Broken: Why Games Make Us Better and How They Can Change the World and SuperBetter: A Revolutionary Approach to Getting Stronger, Happier, Braver and More Resilient. Her game SuperBetter has helped nearly half a million players overcome real-life health challenges such as depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and traumatic brain injury.
