Ta-Nehisi Coates is a monumental voice in the national conversation about race and racism. As a staff writer, and later as an editor for The Atlantic, Coates published essays, including his award winning piece “The Case for Reparations” that challenged commonplace understanding of race relations in America. With his book-length essay Between the World & Me, he became a household name. Coates is the author of the novel, The Water Dancer, and has also written several Marvel comic books. His new book, The Message, features three essays that intertwine his first trip to Africa, the banning of his books in South Carolina, and his experience traveling to Palestine.
Daniel Sokatch is Chief Executive Officer of the New Israel Fund, working towards equality of social and political rights to all inhabitants of Israel irrespective of religion, race or sex.
