Internationally renowned artist Leo Villareal combines LED lights and computer programming to create mesmerizing installations.  His software-driven sculpture synthesizes art, design, and architecture and does so in a moving way.  His work has been compared to that of Dan Flavin, Wassily Kandinsky, and Claude Monet, and his  large-scale installations can be viewed at the National Gallery of Art, Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, PS1 Contemporary Art Center, and MoMA, among other major institutions.  Villareal is currently undertaking his largest project to date right here in the Bay Area — The Bay Lights Project. In late 2012, Villareal will install over 25,000 LED lights on the western span of the Bay Bridge to commemorate its 75th anniversary.
