Jennifer Egan is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of several novels, including A Visit From the Goon Squad, Manhattan Beach, and The Invisible Circus. Also a journalist, she has written frequently in the New York Times Magazine. Her latest novel, The Candy House, is somewhat of a “sibling novel” to Goon Squad. It is an electrifying, deeply moving tale about the quest for authenticity and meaning in a world where memories and identities are no longer private.

Jaron Lanier is a computer scientist, composer, artist, and author who writes on numerous topics, including high-technology business, the social impact of technology, the philosophy of consciousness and information, Internet politics, and the future of humanism. He has been on the cusp of technological innovation from its infancy to the present, and is a pioneer in virtual reality. He has been named one of the 25 most influential people in the previous 25 years of tech history by Wired Magazine, and one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine. His writing appears in The New York Times, Discover, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Harpers Magazine, Atlantic, Wired Magazine, and more.
