Since 2002, Fred Armisen has portrayed a vast range of characters including President Obama, Iranian President Mahmoud Amadinejad, Prince, and New York Governor Paterson. This year, Armisen’s own show “Portlandia,” has quickly gained cult status for its send-up of progressive, ironic, and often not too different from SF types like the militant bike messenger, DIY design couple who attach cut out birds to everything, and diners who ask “is the chicken local” and ultimately insist on visiting the farm to make sure their gourmet meal is truly organic.
