Alejandro Heredia is a queer Afro-Dominican writer working at the intersection of literature and activism. His debut novel, Loca, explores migration, identity, and the queer experience. He is also the author of the short story collection You’re the Only Friend I Need. Heredia has received fellowships from LAMBDA Literary, Dominican Studies Institute, UNLV’s Black Mountain Institute, and elsewhere, and his work has been featured in Teen Vogue, Lambda Literary Review, and The Offing.
On June 11th, 2025, Heredia visited the KQED studios in San Francisco for a conversation with Poulomi Saha, an English professor and co-director of the Program in Critical Theory at UC Berkeley.
