Malcolm Gladwell returns to examine one of America’s deadliest and most polarizing issues: gun violence. In his new book, The American Way of Killing, Gladwell investigates the paradox of a country with huge wealth that still has high violence rates, finding fascinating origins, revealing stories, and hope for the future.

Malcolm Gladwell has become one of the world’s most beloved and influential thinkers through his insightful analyses on complex, polarizing, and urgent topics. A finalist for both the National Book Award and National Book Critics Circle Award, Gladwell’s books, including Outliers and The Tipping Point, have expanded conversations around everything from criminal justice to human consciousness. The New York Times Book Review called Gladwell as “a singular talent,” and reviewers have created the phrase “Gladwellian perspective” to describe the vast array of authors influenced by Gladwell’s writing. In 2016, he created the podcast “Revisionist History,” interviewing everyone from historians to runners, diving into what makes people, and the world, work.

Gladwell’s newest book, The American Way of Killing, takes on one of America’s most divisive issues: gun violence. Through a set of fascinating stories, Gladwell illuminates why one of the wealthiest countries in the world has such high levels of violence, while offering valuable insights into American political history, and a hopeful vision of the future.
