Jeffrey Toobin
In conversation with Christopher Edley, Jr.
Wednesday, October 3, 2007 |
Herbst Theatre, 8pm
Jeffrey Toobin's journalistic territory includes politics, media,
and the law. As legal analyst for CNN, Toobin distills the underlying
issues behind some of the nation's most provocative cases, from
the O.J. Simpson trial to the 2000 presidential election's disputed
Florida recount. He deftly reveals the complex motivation and interactions
of historic figures while maintaining a deep respect for American
institutions. Toobin is a longtime staff writer at The New Yorker
and the author of many books, including Opening Arguments,
Too Close to Call, and A Vast Conspiracy. His most recent
book is The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court.
Based on exclusive interviews with the justices themselves, The
Nine deconstructs the complex dynamics among the people who
make up the nation's highest judicial branch. He recently appeared
onstage with Justice Stephen Breyer for City Arts & Lectures.
